Live broadcast has no maintenance window and no second attempt. The network either holds for the duration of the show or the failure is watched by everyone.
Circuits and BGP peering
High-capacity circuit installs — AT&T, Comcast, and similar — brought up under multi-homed BGP so a failure moves traffic without anyone intervening. The detail that matters is path independence: two services that share an upstream are not two paths.
Keeping the media path clean
Production chatter and the actual feed should not compete for the same capacity. Multicast configured to behave under load, conferencing given its own lane, and firewall policy that keeps a burst of file transfers from putting the show at risk.
Testing before the show, not during
Failover that has never been exercised at production traffic levels is a guess. We load-test the path ahead of the event and run end-to-end checks through Newman and Playwright containers, so the failure modes get found on a Tuesday rather than on air.
